Shopify cookie banner

The cookie banner
built for Shopify.

Your store spends real money on ads. A bad banner quietly throws part of the return away: purchases go unattributed the moment a visitor declines. Velo keeps your Shopify store compliant in the EU and the UK, and wires Google Consent Mode v2 so declined conversions are modelled instead of lost.

Compliant, fast,
nothing lost.

Install through Google Tag Manager, or paste one line into theme.liquid right after the opening head tag. No app to install, nothing to maintain in your theme, and the banner ships its own styles so your storefront theme never fights it.

Compliant by defaultRegion rules apply the right law by location: GDPR consent in the EU and UK, opt out where US states require it. Equal Accept and Reject, per category choices, and every consent recorded in an exportable audit log.
Consent Mode v2, wired rightThe denied default lands before any tag fires, the step most installs get wrong. Declined visitors send cookieless pings, and Google models the conversions consent hides instead of dropping them.
Made for Shopifytheme.liquid is all it touches. One script of at most 30KB, no app to install, no plugin to keep updated, and it never blocks the page from painting.

How it goes live
on Shopify.

Three steps, about ten minutes.

  1. 01

    Add the tag

In Google Tag Manager, add the Velo template from the community gallery. No Tag Manager on the store? One line in theme.liquid does the same job.

  2. 02

    Denied by default, banner up

Velo sets the Google Consent Mode v2 denied default before any other tag runs, then shows the banner. Nothing non essential fires until the visitor chooses, and every choice lands in the audit log.

    Verify and forget it

Check the consent signals flip in Tag Assistant or your browser, publish, and you are done. Region rules, records and Google's modelling run on their own from here.

Shopify questions,
answered.

What teams putting a banner on Shopify ask first.

Does Velo work with my Shopify theme?

Yes. The banner renders inside Shadow DOM, so it carries its own styles and your theme's CSS never bleeds into it. It is one script of at most 30KB, installed through Google Tag Manager or one line in theme.liquid, and it works the same on any theme, Online Store 2.0 or vintage.

Do I need an app from the Shopify App Store?

No. Velo is not a Shopify app. It installs like your other measurement does: a tag in Google Tag Manager or a single line in your theme. That also means nothing new shows up in your app list to slow the storefront down.

What happens to my ad reporting when visitors decline?

With Consent Mode v2 wired the way Google expects, declined visitors still send cookieless pings, and Google models the conversions you can no longer observe directly. Across Amplio Data client implementations that recovers 20–40% of consent hidden conversions. Measured ranges, not a guarantee.

Will the banner slow my store down?

The script stays at or under 30KB and loads without blocking rendering. Your product pages paint first; the banner arrives politely after.
