A Usercentrics alternative for marketing teams.

CompareChecked on 23 September 2026

Velo suits teams that run several sites and want region rules, Global Privacy Control and Google Consent Mode v2 at one monthly price with VAT included. Usercentrics sets session and domain limits on its plans below Corporate. If you need a registered IAB TCF CMP today, stay with Usercentrics: Velo is not registered yet.

Consider switching if you pay for a higher Usercentrics plan mainly to add domains, or if your traffic keeps moving you up a tier. Both companies price by sessions, but Velo Pro has no limit on sites. Check both pricing pages before you decide, because prices change.

How Usercentrics and Velo charge

Usercentrics prices its web CMP by monthly sessions. It counts a session each time a visitor loads your website with its script, for a 30 minute period, and a refresh after 30 minutes counts as a new session. Each plan also limits how many domains you can add, and a subdomain counts as a separate domain. Prices are in euros and exclude VAT where applicable. Essential, Plus, Pro and Business are billed monthly. Source: Usercentrics pricing, checked on 23 September 2026.

Usercentrics web CMP plans on monthly billing, before VAT:

  • Free: fewer than 1,000 monthly sessions and one domain, with core features.
  • Essential, €7 a month: up to 1,500 sessions, one domain and one privacy regulation.
  • Plus, €15 a month: up to 3,000 sessions and one domain. Adds geolocation rules.
  • Pro, €30 a month: up to 15,000 sessions and three domains. Adds your logo on the banner and IAB TCF v2.3 support.
  • Business, €50 a month: up to 50,000 sessions and ten domains. Above that, Business moves up in tiers: €100 for 100,000 sessions and 10 domains, €150 for 150,000 and 15, €200 for 200,000 and 20, €250 for 250,000 and 25, €400 for 500,000 and 50, €575 for 750,000 and 75, and €750 for 1,000,000 and 100.
  • Corporate: priced through sales, from 1,000,000 sessions a month, with unlimited domains and yearly billing.

If you go over a plan's session limit, Usercentrics adjusts your plan automatically under its terms and conditions. Source: Usercentrics pricing, checked on 23 September 2026.

Velo also prices by monthly sessions. A session is one visit. Free covers one site and 2,500 monthly sessions. Pro covers unlimited sites with one session allowance for the whole account: €7 for 10,000, €12 for 25,000, €19 for 50,000, €29 for 100,000 or €49 for 250,000. Velo prices are in euros, include VAT and are billed monthly. Source: Velo pricing.

What the same sites would cost

Two common setups, priced from each company's published monthly plans on 23 September 2026. Both companies count sessions, so the figures sit close to like for like. Read the notes for the differences that remain.

  • The session counts are close but not the same. Velo counts a visit. Usercentrics counts a visitor loading your site with its script within a 30 minute period, and a refresh after 30 minutes starts a new session.
  • VAT. Velo's price includes VAT. Usercentrics charges local VAT to customers in the EU, except companies with a valid VAT number, which are reverse charged. That exception does not apply to Danish companies. Customers outside the EU are not charged VAT.
  • Domains. Usercentrics counts example.com and shop.example.com as two domains. Velo Pro has no site limit.
  • Billing term. Both figures are monthly. Usercentrics bills Essential to Business monthly and Corporate yearly.
  • Features at each price. Geolocation rules start on Usercentrics Plus and IAB TCF v2.3 support starts on Pro, so compare those plans if you need them.

How to switch from Usercentrics to Velo

The new banner is the easy half of a switch. The work is in the tags that read the old platform's consent state. Our guide on switching consent platforms without breaking tracking covers each step in detail.

  1. List what Usercentrics handles today: its script, any Google Tag Manager template or triggers, automatic blocking rules, geolocation rules and the services listed in your banner.
  2. Download the consent histories you need before you cancel. Usercentrics keeps its consent log accessible and downloadable for 12 months.
  3. Write down which consent signal gates each tag now, and which Velo signal will gate it after the switch.
  4. Add Velo with the snippet or the Velo Google Tag Manager template, placed before your analytics and advertising tags.
  5. Review the scan findings in Velo, check the suggested cookie categories and set your regions.
  6. Test accept, reject and preference changes on a staging site. Check what fires, not only what is blocked.
  7. Remove the Usercentrics script and its Tag Manager triggers last, then cancel the plan. Usercentrics says cancellations cannot be reversed.

Existing consent records and the choices of returning visitors need a separate compatibility check, so keep your Usercentrics export.

When Usercentrics may suit you better

  • You sell ad space. If you monetise through AdSense, Ad Manager or another programmatic stack in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google requires a certified TCF CMP. Usercentrics lists IAB TCF v2.3 support from Pro and says its CMP is Google certified. Velo is not a registered TCF CMP yet, and our TCF page shows where registration stands.
  • You need consent in apps or on connected TV as well. Usercentrics sells App CMP and CTV CMP plans next to its web CMP. Velo is a consent layer for websites.
  • Your traffic is above 250,000 monthly sessions. Usercentrics Business tiers run to 1,000,000 sessions for €750 a month before VAT, and Corporate starts there. Velo's published Pro tiers stop at 250,000.
  • You buy through procurement and need enterprise controls. Usercentrics Corporate lists single sign on, a review and release step before changes go live, a customer success manager and support for RFI documents. Velo does not publish an enterprise plan.
  • You want weekly automated scans. Usercentrics Corporate runs them. Velo Pro scans monthly and whenever you run a manual scan.

Questions about switching from Usercentrics

Is Velo cheaper than Usercentrics?

For the two setups we priced, yes. One site with 40,000 monthly sessions costs €19 a month on Velo with VAT included and €50 before VAT on Usercentrics Business. Three sites with 20,000 monthly sessions each cost €29 on Velo and €100 before VAT on Usercentrics. Usercentrics includes IAB TCF v2.3 support from Pro, which Velo does not offer yet. Prices checked on 23 September 2026.

Does Velo work with Google Consent Mode v2 like Usercentrics?

Yes. Both pass consent choices to Google tags through Consent Mode v2, and Usercentrics includes it on every plan. Velo sets the Consent Mode default when it loads and supports advanced mode on every plan. Google's modelling of declined visits depends on Google's own eligibility rules, and Velo does not guarantee recovered conversions.

Is Velo a registered IAB TCF CMP?

Not yet. TCF v2.3 support is in development and registration with IAB Europe is in progress. If your advertising partners require a registered CMP, use one until Velo's registration completes. Our TCF page has the current status.

How do I move from Usercentrics to Velo without breaking tracking?

Switch in order. Map which consent signal gates each tag, install Velo, rebuild your exceptions, then test accept and reject before you remove the Usercentrics script and its Tag Manager triggers. Download your Usercentrics consent histories first, because existing records need a separate compatibility check.

Does Velo limit the number of domains like Usercentrics?

No. Velo Pro covers unlimited sites under one session allowance for the whole account. Usercentrics sets a domain limit on its plans below Corporate, from one domain on Essential and Plus to ten on base Business, and counts each subdomain as a domain.
