A OneTrust alternative for marketing teams.
Velo suits marketing teams that need a consent banner and Google Consent Mode v2 on their websites, with published prices and sign up online. OneTrust quotes each customer through its sales team. If you need a registered IAB TCF CMP today, stay with OneTrust: Velo is not registered yet.
Consider switching if you use OneTrust mainly for cookie banners on a few websites, and you want to see the price before you talk to anyone. Velo lists every plan on its pricing page, and one Pro plan covers every site you add. If you also run privacy requests or other privacy programmes in OneTrust, a switch touches more than your banner. Check both companies' pages before you decide, because terms change.

How OneTrust and Velo charge
OneTrust does not publish prices. Its pricing page lists two website consent packages, Consent Management Platform (CMP) Base and CMP Suite, and each one has a Get Pricing button. Both are priced on average daily visitors, added up across all channels and properties. For a figure, OneTrust asks you to schedule a call for a personalised quote based on your team size and business goals. Source: OneTrust pricing, checked on 23 September 2026.
What the two OneTrust consent packages cover, as its pricing page describes them:
- CMP Base: consent banners across websites, mobile apps and connected TV (CTV) devices, a categorised inventory of technologies such as SDKs and trackers, and branded consent experiences.
- CMP Suite: consent, privacy notices and data subject request (DSR) automation from one platform.
The same page sells separate packages for universal consent and preference management, privacy automation, tech risk and compliance, third party management and AI governance. Each of those is quote only as well. Source: OneTrust pricing, checked on 23 September 2026.
Velo prices by monthly sessions. A session is one visit. Free covers one site and 2,500 monthly sessions. Pro covers unlimited sites with one session allowance for the whole account: €7 for 10,000, €12 for 25,000, €19 for 50,000, €29 for 100,000 or €49 for 250,000. Velo prices are in euros, include VAT and are billed monthly. You sign up online, with no credit card to start. Source: Velo pricing.

What the same sites would cost
OneTrust publishes no prices, so we cannot put a OneTrust figure next to Velo's. The table shows what each company would charge for, from the pages we checked on 23 September 2026. Ask OneTrust for a quote on the same traffic to compare.
| Setup | Velo | OneTrust |
|---|---|---|
| One site with 40,000 monthly sessions | €19 a month, VAT included. Pro with 50,000 sessions. | Quote only. OneTrust prices on the site's average daily visitors. OneTrust pricing |
| Three sites with 20,000 monthly sessions each | €29 a month, VAT included. Pro with 100,000 sessions covers all three sites, 60,000 sessions in total. | Quote only. OneTrust adds up average daily visitors across all three sites and any other channel in the contract. OneTrust pricing |
- The units differ. Velo counts visits in a month. OneTrust counts average daily visitors. Ask OneTrust how it counts a visitor who returns, then compare against your monthly sessions.
- Currency, tax and term. Velo shows euros with VAT included and bills monthly. OneTrust's pricing page does not state a currency, tax treatment or contract length, so ask for all three with the quote.
- Scope. A OneTrust quote can cover more than website banners, such as apps, connected TV, privacy notices or data subject requests. Ask for the website consent part on its own if that is what you are comparing.
How to switch from OneTrust to Velo
The new banner is the easy half of a switch. The work is in the tags that read the old platform's consent state. Our guide on switching consent platforms without breaking tracking covers each step in detail.
- List what OneTrust handles today: its script, Google Tag Manager triggers that read the OnetrustActiveGroups variable or the OneTrustGroupsUpdated event, blocking rules, geolocation rules and your cookie list.
- Ask OneTrust how to export your consent transaction records before your contract ends, and keep the export.
- Write down which consent signal gates each tag now, and which Velo signal will gate it after the switch.
- Add Velo with the snippet or the Velo Google Tag Manager template, placed before your analytics and advertising tags.
- Review the scan findings in Velo, check the suggested cookie categories and set your regions.
- Test accept, reject and preference changes on a staging site. Check what fires, not only what is blocked.
- Remove the OneTrust script and its Tag Manager variables and triggers last.
Velo replaces the consent layer on your websites only. If you use OneTrust for apps, privacy requests or other programmes, plan those separately. Existing consent records and the choices of returning visitors need a separate compatibility check, so keep your OneTrust export.
When OneTrust may suit you better
- You sell ad space. If you monetise through AdSense, Ad Manager or another programmatic stack in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google requires a certified TCF CMP. OneTrust documents TCF 2.3 setup for its CMP. Velo is not a registered TCF CMP yet, and our TCF page shows where registration stands.
- You run a wider privacy programme. OneTrust sells consent together with privacy notices and data subject requests in CMP Suite, plus separate packages for privacy automation, third party management and AI governance. Velo covers consent on websites and does not publish an enterprise plan.
- You need consent in apps or on connected TV as well. OneTrust deploys consent to web, mobile and CTV from one platform. Velo is a consent layer for websites.
- You need scans that run behind a login. OneTrust's advanced scanning can scan behind logins and trigger hidden pages. Velo Pro scans monthly and whenever you run a manual scan.
Questions about switching from OneTrust
Is Velo cheaper than OneTrust?
We cannot say, because OneTrust does not publish prices. Its pricing page quotes each customer on average daily visitors across all channels and properties. Velo publishes every price: three sites with 20,000 monthly sessions each cost €29 a month with VAT included, on prices checked on 23 September 2026. Ask OneTrust for a quote on the same traffic to compare.
Does Velo work with Google Consent Mode v2 like OneTrust?
Yes. Both pass consent choices to Google tags through Consent Mode v2, and OneTrust says it has supported all four v2 parameters since 2024. Velo sets the Consent Mode default when it loads and supports advanced mode on every plan. Google's modelling of declined visits depends on Google's own eligibility rules, and Velo does not guarantee recovered conversions.
Is Velo a registered IAB TCF CMP?
Not yet. TCF v2.3 support is in development and registration with IAB Europe is in progress. If your advertising partners require a registered CMP, use one until Velo's registration completes. Our TCF page has the current status.
How do I move from OneTrust to Velo without breaking tracking?
Switch in order. Map which consent signal gates each tag, including Tag Manager triggers that read OneTrust's OnetrustActiveGroups variable, install Velo, rebuild your exceptions, then test accept and reject before you remove the OneTrust script. Export your OneTrust consent records first, because existing records need a separate compatibility check.
Can I start with Velo without talking to sales?
Yes. You sign up online and start on the Free plan, which covers one site and 2,500 monthly sessions, with no credit card. Pro adds unlimited sites from €7 a month with VAT included. OneTrust's pricing page asks you to schedule a call for a quote.
