Make your banner feel at home.
Edit your site’s colours, layout, wording and privacy button, then check the result on a real page.
Start with the correct site
Open Banner in your workspace and select the website you want to change. Check the site name before editing. If you are viewing All sites and the controls are disabled, select an individual website.
The editor separates settings into Appearance, Content & languages, Preferences and Privacy button. Use the preview while editing, then save and test the published website.
Set colours and placement
- In Appearance, start from a theme preset or adjust Button colour, Background and Text colour.
- Choose a Position: full-width bar, corner or centred modal. Use the placement control where it is available.
- Adjust Banner corners to fit the rest of your site.
- On an eligible paid plan, use Upload logo to add a PNG, JPG or WebP of up to 1 MB.
Keep text and controls easy to distinguish from their background. Review any contrast warning in the editor, and check the banner against both light and dark areas of your website.
Keep the accept, reject and preferences routes easy to find. Check that a chat widget, sticky checkout button or mobile navigation does not cover the banner.
Write clear copy in each language
Open Content & languages, enable the languages your site needs and select the Editing language. Review the heading and message for each enabled language, including the fallback shown in the editor.
Describe your actual use of cookies and similar technologies. Explain what is optional and where visitors can change their choice. Avoid making consent sound compulsory when it is not.
A starting point for your message
“We use cookies to measure how our website is used and support our advertising. You can accept, reject or choose which optional cookies to allow. You can change your choice in privacy settings.”
Adapt that wording to the technologies on your site. In Preferences, check category descriptions against your implementation; changing the text does not reclassify or block scripts by itself.
Keep privacy settings within reach
Use the Privacy button tab to review the control visitors use after their first choice. Place it where it remains visible without covering important content.
If you replace the built-in button with your own link, your implementation can call window.Velo.openPreferences() after the SDK has loaded. Provide that working alternative before disabling the built-in control.
- The control is visible on every relevant page.
- A keyboard user can reach and activate it.
- It opens preferences after both acceptance and rejection.
- Saving a changed choice updates the tags.
Save and verify your changes
Click Save changes and wait for the saved state. Open your published website in a fresh session and review desktop and mobile layouts. Check long translated messages, links, buttons and the preferences layer.
I saved, but the live banner still looks old.
Check that you edited the site ID used by the published snippet. Reload the site, check for a cached configuration and inspect whether inline installation attributes override your settings. A second Velo installation can also make the wrong banner appear.
The logo option or another setting is unavailable.
Check your plan and workspace permissions. Custom logos require a paid entitlement. If usage has exceeded your allowance, editing can be paused while the existing live banner continues to work. See usage limits.
The preview is correct, but the banner overlaps my site.
Test on the actual page, including its chat, sticky navigation and checkout controls. Change placement, save and repeat the mobile check. The editor preview cannot account for every element on your website.
